Owlbear (animal)
Owlbears are ferocious creatures known to live throughout the Redwood Forests of the Waking Coast. They are primarily solitary, and are highly aggressive when encountered by humans in the wild. While their appearance is similar to that of a bear, their round, owl-like faces and feathers interspersed with gray fur are key indicators for hunters and travelers alike that they may be in more danger than they expected.
Our prey stands some distance from us, looking into the river water at its feet as it tries to catch the fish swimming by. My companions and I have readied our bows, spears, and torches in hopes to catch the owlbear off guard—its ferocious claws and powerful beak are well known for their power, but an aversion to fire may be our best chance at taking the beast down.
The owlbear looks up for a moment, almost as if noticing our presence, before returning to its meal as it catches a salmon flowing by. We'll need to act quickly before it lumbers back into the woods, lest we lose our chance to strike.
