Ruins of Khanazdar Khanduz (building)

Next: Citadel of Khanazdar Khanduz

Khanazdar Khanduz is the name of a massive six-tiered fortified palace complex built by the Astilik Empire sometime around the first century IS to overlook and protect the city of Astila, an important trade center and one of the major stops on the Kherkeloi Tin Trade route. Like many Astilik fortifications, Khanazdar Khanduz would grow and evolve over the centuries, rising from a few humble ramparts of unknown origin to a labyrinthine complex of unassailable walls and tall spires crafted in the likeness of the Towers.

The citadel would survive countless Öltenic raids, at least three great fires, and a brief sixteen-year period when it seemingly ceased to exist, and it was not until the closing decades of the eighth century IS when the crumbling Astilik Empire finally abandoned it for good. Today, the ruins of Khanazdar Khanduz serve primarily as a source of quality stone for neighboring settlements and are occasionally home to bands of vagrants and bandits.
