The Council of Thirty-Three (clique)
The dominant faction in Disuwai since the conspiracy which brought them to power in the first place, the council of 33 pulls from a small group of conservative merchant families perched at the top of the republic's political hierarchy. Though the council nominally pays lip service to the cause of the old Uprising and the Kathsiti dissent, their primary goals revolve around maintaining stability through any means necessary. Unfortunately for the Council, they have few friends among the city's other cliques. The New Families hope to break their monopoly on trade and wealth, and the Judicial Councils still fume over the coup which drove them from power. Meanwhile the borderline Radical Ushbiliyya lurk in the streets, alleys, and lower courts, sharpening their knives and dreaming of the day they'll sweep them all aside.
