A Long Way From Home (event)
Character: Duchess Acháke Tauromilai of Faegift
Months of hard riding turned to years, and then decades. It's been nearly a full generation since the Sarminians fled from the encroaching Fog, belched from the depths of our cursed Father Beneath the Mountains, one final atrocity inflicted upon His children to wipe clean the slate and spit in the eye of Mother Sky. But we persevered. New foes were trampled beneath our feet, and eventually a new promise: conquest and a new homeland, led by the High King of the Sjalvolki.
The Battle at the Elysian Pass was our finest hour. Perhaps it may prove to be one of our last. My aunt, the Queen Respendia fell there along with her companions, as did an almost irrecoverable number of our horsewomen. With her passed the last connection to the Czarmáditis Queendom. Her authority as regent passed to me with her childless death, though the throne is no longer just empty - it's disappeared entirely. As we rode away from the battlefield, the clans began to disintegrate almost immediately.
The duty to maintain some form of unity among the Sarminians now falls to me, though with Arite's refusal to swear allegiance that fight may have already been lost.
Mother protect us, and guide us to fertile pastures.
