At the Gates of Damota (event)
Character: Duke Farwah Gonakeb of Sokoi
In the chaos of the Etami Tetenik, when every petty nobleman fought for the fallen throne, the city of Āsedobo was left leaderless, its armies and nobles having marched southwards in pursuit of glorious delusions. In their wake, the karavuux of the city rallied their members and seized power, restoring order to the city. From there, the surrounding lands were seized rapidly, and the Yarkiyēt of Sokoi was proclaimed to be under the people's rule, with the Karavuux as intermediaries to ensure the prosperity of the region. Over the centuries since, Sokoi has stood at Damota's gates, growing rich off of the ceaseless river of goods flowing along the Gonan Road. And for all these centuries, as Damota was time and again set aflame by ambition, our wealth has only continued to pile.
I am another in this cycle, recently chosen to lead our realm through whatever challenges may face it in the coming years. Of course, I could be removed as quickly as I came to power, should anything disastrous occur during my tenure. But so long as the people, and more importantly, the Karavuux, have their needs met, I could rule long into the future, growing quite rich in the process, as has every successful Yarkiyē before me.
Someday, I shall bathe in gemstones.
