Puppet of the Painted (event)
Character: Duke Digbhanja Bhaljavgan of Kathkot
Emptiness, that is all I feel. I have sat on this throne for two decades, and it has not brought me pleasure once. My brother limps around me like a sick dog, wanting a purpose that I can't give him. My uncle speaks over me in councils, but I have to trust that he knows better. I do not deserve this crown, a sentiment that I know has been upon the lips of all who meet me. I am a shell of my dynasty's greatness, a pale reflection of the Painted.
Kafasali is a land of iron wills. I have to be like iron to be their king, but I cannot leave my bed without the voices returning. The voices say that I am no king, that my aunt wishes us dead, but Uncle Yayati tells me that my rule is absolute. My claim is that of the Painted, that of the Rahikaya who have never been conquered. I have to believe him, because what is there if he is a liar like the voices? A hollow crown, a hollow kingdom.
A hollow king.
