Seeing the Obvious (event)
Character: Duke Talaxos of Legio XCIV 'Shipbreakers'
All those fools will tell you of Aversaria, of a glorious realm of endless wealth and unmatchable power. But none of that matters. I'm Aversarian, sure, but that is but a word, a call to something that is past. Aversaria may have been glorious, but here and now, in Krehejad, it is irrelevant.
Me and my men? We do what it takes to survive, and the ocean can have whatever bastard sits in Stellios and claims to be our ruler. That fool's family have sat there, behind their fine walls, in their fancy palace, making those same desperate demands for my whole life. But I won't listen to their pleading, their desperate cries to defend our far-flung province of an empire whose last armies just got themselves smashed up north.
Why should I care? This is a good living, and a way for us to keep going, and make ourselves the rulers of this new age. And in the end, isn't that what really matters?
Raise the anchor!
