The pretenders are fools. All of them.
Idiot children pampered and bred from the cloistered confines of their palaces. I watched them grow up, I watched Gardfrei's children piss away any chance to prove themselves worth a throne for years. The only one worth even speaking of is René, a brute mercenary who thinks rulership is something he hits with his sword.
From dirt and squalor to the shadowed courts of the realm, I have worked. Whether cutting a man's throat myself or having others do it in the High King's name. They call me lowborn, murderer, sinner. They are fools. I am the only one deserving of power, the only 'ruler' here who has ever done anything to reach out and take it. And I will have it. I will be the High Queen.
The throne will be mine, no matter the cost.
