The Wise and Few (opening event)

I was ten when I first heard the crackle-voice of the spirits, speaking to me in the flame of a summer grassfire. My family said that my survival was a miracle, but I knew the truth: I was spared. Since then I broke with the hidebound traditions of my kin, risking disownment to pursue an even older art.
The rest of the Wardenite world may not understand me, scoffing at my so-called rural magics, but I know that there is power in the spirits of the old cursed woods of Zokah. I hearken to the secrets of the lost courts of the Old Cedar Kings who once held Sarradon under their dominion in an age long forgotten. They speak to me of a coming era of darkness and anarchy.
In my slumber I can see a pale fire rising over El Qulatha, scouring the palaces of the Mamurs.
I will be ready.
