Harēkana Observatory (building)
The Sāta Rēda Gaśadētē ka Harēkana Observatory, or ‘Parses the Wandering Sky’, is a Vidvaookeyatran university and observatory known for its impressive astrological monuments. After a lively debate on the velocity of the Heavenly Star left two scholars severely injured, Kathpatti Nandamuni of Sheytara declared that Kegothon Isle would house the most definitive observatory in all of Aeras.
At the center of the complex is the Mātnār Jai, an enormous armillary sphere that can only move at night, glowing brightly in the dark and recording the orbits of Aeras, Aervalr, and the sun. A misfired spell causes massive staircases made of petrified coral to rise high into the sky, swooping and curving in impossible geometries, then descend back down into the sea. A large metal ring pointed upwards on the edge of the island seems to breathe, expanding and contracting with the tides. The top astronomers and astrologists at the observatory attract a great number of students that are eager to learn how to parse the wandering sky.
