Ruins of Old Ialyrian (building)
Next: Restored Temples of Old Ialyrian
Ialyrian was one of the earliest attested capitals of the Astilik Empire and an end node of the Kherkeloi Tin Trade route. While the earliest signs of settlement in the region date back to well before 2000 BI, it was not until a thousand years later that the Astiliks displaced the local Warmic tribes and established the city itself, founding it on top of a pre-existing ruin. Hailed as one of the jewels of the ancient Aironoian world, Ialyrian quickly grew in power and influence over the centuries—first as a maritime and manufacturing hub, and later as an important religious center with hundreds, if not thousands of temples, each dedicated to one of the gods of the vast Astiliak pantheon.
Irradu was the patron god of the city, revered as the aegis of the empire and protector of the weak, whose worship and significance rose in tandem with the prominence of Ialyrian itself; ultimately however, its divine powers did nothing to prevent the Aversarians from brutally sacking the city in 768 IS, after which it was largely abandoned.
