The Black Monk (concept)
Leader of the Marcher Arderian heresy during the War of the Heretic Princes (and possibly the heresy's founder), the 'Black Monk' was a mysterious figure of unknown identity despite efforts by many scholars (the task made far more difficult by the Arderist's fervent iconoclasm, the heresiarch's face always obscured in their arts). Little is known of their origins before the monk rapidly rose to prominence with a series of strange miracles attested even by their critics. While decried by many as a charlatan and trickster, they rapidly gained a following and would even be deified by many despite their iconoclasm.
Never captured, they would vanish not long before the War of the Heretic Prince's end, and their followers scattered with the fall of their stronghold in Wespre
