The iconoclastic Arderists (from the Chevalien word for 'burning') see the idolization of spiritual entities (such as gods and waysaints) as the source of all Magic (and Liches). Led during the War of the Heretic Princes by the enigmatic 'Black Monk', the burning of dozens of churches and hundreds of religious artifacts and its adoption by many warlords hoping to seize church lands is often credited for collapsing Raocourt's power in northern Chevalie.
