With the acquisition of the island from the Amsari, our grand plan was set in motion. I've administered the West Royal Trading Company for six years now, since my predecessor Andres opted to return to Peti Gisredde to pursue more lucrative opportunities in the homeland. Frankly I'm beginning to think I was an idiot not to do the same. We've been waiting decades for the Qanamsar Pejman to die and it's beginning to feel like he simply isn't going to. But, without their visions from their long-dead Prophet to guide them the Amsari nobles were more than happy to pursue their own agendas. And what better way to facilitate them by selling them weapons and knowledge in the hopes of eventually profiting from turmoil.
This is the risky investment that's defined the last two decades of our business venture, as we've shifted from commodities exports to the arms trade. Leaving thousands of suits of good mail moldering in the warehouse doesn't seem like a good investment, but I know an impending civil war when I see one. Once the old man dies and his sons start squabbling over his corpse - well, that's when we can finally start churning out the real profit.
