Mond Graz Castle (building)
Built in the late Ninth Century IS by King Karth Illurdian of Perignan, the imposing Mond Graz Castle stands proudly atop the Western Bastione Mountains. Despite only being completed near the end of King Karth's reign, the soaring towers of Mond Graz served as a symbol of his, and later King Erchebar's, authority.
The castle was occupied and damaged early in the Red River War, which ironically led to it being spared from the devastation brought by the later invasion of the Arch Lich Silas Stavro. It has since been rebuilt by successive lords to become a formidable stone fortress that guards the southern passes of Perignan — as well as a check to the oft-rebellious city of Aastauxporte to its south.
It was also in this castle where Duc Réné den va Vouirard held off the forces of the Black-Gold League, halting their rapid advance to the west. This bought enough time for Gardfrei's reinforcements to arrive, forcing an unexpected stalemate in the previously one-sided war.
