The Heaven-Ordained Semi-Autonomous Bureau of the Bronzeport (concept)
Established during the reign of Dragon Emperor Jiê Yaon-ji Têng in the early 10th century, the Heaven-Ordained Semi-Autonomous Bureau of the Bronzeport (“Bronzeport” for short, but not to be confused with the fortress within it is housed, which is also named the Bronzeport) is the government body responsible for managing the Empire of Kathun-Kai’s economic interests in Dahangon. Normally headed by a High Minister of the Bronzeport, the Bureau is, among other things, tasked with managing the imposition and collection of tariffs, the maintenance and operation of the ports and its fortifications, and the highly crucial production and transport of Bronze and Zhaên.
The Bureau has long been at odds with the Protectorate of the Southlands, which is on paper, officially the chief Kathuni colonial authority over the southern regions of Nanmay Bon and Dahangon. The Bronzeport has fended off several attempts by successive Governors of the Southlands to impose taxes, while the Protectorate has often claimed that the office is rife with corruption. This eventually led to the so-called Verdigris Affair, resulting in the Bureau being granted semi-autonomous status and reporting to the Dragon Emperor alone. With the rumored downfall of Lóen Chaéon in the aftermath of Frodbrokna however, this relationship has soon deteriorated to be one in name only.
